Brand Restrictions

Marketplace and advertised-price rules are set by each manufacturer, not by Benhalex. We pass them on and we follow them. This page covers the brands we actually supply. It may not be a complete listing of every manufacturer policy, and it remains the responsibility of Benhalex's customers to be aware of and adhere to a manufacturer's MAP or restricted-sale policy.

Zippo

Zippo affects more dealers than any other brand we carry, and its rules are the strictest.

• United States only. Zippo products cannot be shipped or resold outside the United States.
• Current-catalogue items may not be listed on third-party marketplaces. If an item is findable on zippo.com, it cannot go on Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart or any similar marketplace. It sells freely through your own store.
• Custom and discontinued items can be eligible, but never automatically. Two things must happen first: Zippo has to authorise it, and the seller or handle name you intend to trade under has to be registered with Zippo. Listing before both are done is a breach.
• UOMAP governs advertised online pricing. Zippo publishes a minimum advertised price list. It applies to the price you advertise, not the price you finally sell at. Advertising a UOMAP product below its UOMAP price is a breach.
• Non-compliance escalates to revocation of your Zippo authorisation. This is the consequence dealers most often do not expect, so we would rather say it plainly than have you find out.

Bear and Son, including Bear OPS, Bear Edge, Gatco and Blackhawk

Bear & Son Cutlery's marketplace rule is short, absolute and printed on their own price list. It is the strictest position of any brand we carry after Zippo, and unlike Zippo there is no approval route.

• No third-party marketplaces, at all. Bear's terms state that no Bear product of any brand may be sold on Amazon, eBay or any other third-party site. That covers Bear & Son, Bear OPS, Bear Edge, Gatco and Blackhawk.
• There is no exception for discontinued or clearance items. Where Zippo allows a route for non-current stock, Bear does not. If it is a Bear product, it stays off marketplaces.
• Your own store is fine. The restriction is on third-party marketplaces. Selling Bear through your own website, or in your shop, is exactly what the line is made for.
• Automatic knives need a Section 18 form on file before we can ship them. Every Bear OPS item whose number begins AC or OTF is an automatic. Bear requires a signed Section 18 form on file for the receiving business before any of them leave the building, and we cannot ship one without it. Automatics are also restricted or prohibited outright in some states and cities, and it is the buyer's responsibility to know the law where the knife is going.

Every other brand we carry

The rest of our brands set their own marketplace and MAP terms, and they differ by manufacturer and change over time. Rather than publish a list that goes stale, we confirm the current position per brand on request.

Before you list any product from us on a third-party marketplace, email wholesale@benhalex.com with the brand and the marketplace. We will tell you where that brand stands, and if a dealer agreement or written authorisation is required we will tell you how to get one. A same-business-day answer is normal.
