Step 1

Find your design

Send us artwork you already have, or tell us what you want and we will work it up for you.

You have the artwork

Send it over and we will come back with the file format and sizing the laser needs for the knife you have chosen. You need to own the design, or hold a licence from whoever does.

You do not have the artwork

Tell us what you want. A logo, a unit crest, an event, a shop name, a one-off run for a customer. You see it as a proof before you commit to anything.

Step 2

Choose your knife

Any model in the Bear range can be quoted for engraving. A few of the ones dealers pick most often are below, shown as they ship. The engravable area varies by model, so tell us your shortlist and we will confirm what works.

Step 3

Know what it costs

Engraving is charged on top of the dealer price of the knife itself. The setup charge is per design and is paid once however many pieces you run. Engraving charges are net, so dealer discounts do not apply to them.

Two minimums apply, and both must be met

  • 25 pieces of the same item per design. The setup charge is per design, so mixing models means a separate setup each time.
  • $1,300 order minimum across Bear & Son, Gatco and Blackhawk combined, the same floor as any Bear order.

Worth planning for: at the 25 piece minimum the knife itself needs to be about $41 or more at your dealer price for the order to reach $1,300 on its own. Below that, raise the quantity, pick a higher priced model, or add other Bear, Gatco or Blackhawk items to the same order.

Order total before shipping $1,650.00

Clears both the 25 piece engraving minimum and the $1,300 order minimum. Shipping is quoted once the final quantity is confirmed.

Step 4

Approve and order

Nothing goes into production until you have signed off the proof. Two pieces of paperwork can apply depending on what you are ordering.

Approve the proof

You see the layout on your chosen model and approve it in writing. Lead time is confirmed with your quote.

Section 18, automatics only

Every Bear OPS item numbered AC or OTF is an automatic and cannot ship without a signed Section 18 form for the receiving business. Email us and we will send you the form.

Dealer account and payment

Custom runs are wholesale orders, so your account needs to be approved and your resale certificate on file. Custom work is paid in full before it goes into production.

Before you order

Bear products cannot be sold on any third party marketplace

Bear's terms bar Amazon, eBay and every other third party site, and there is no exception for custom or engraved pieces. A custom design does not create a route onto a marketplace the way it can with some other brands. Selling Bear through your own store or your own shop is exactly what this line is for.

Automatics are also restricted or prohibited outright in some states and cities, and it is the buyer's responsibility to know the law where the knife is going. The full position on every brand we carry is on the Brand Restrictions page.
